Our History

The Getafe Concert Band made its debut in May 1984 on the occasion of our town’s patron festivities. From the very beginning, its conductor, Francisco Aguado Martí, brought together local amateur musicians—many of them originally from nearby towns—with young students emerging from the newly created music school.

We are a private non‑profit association, and our main activity focuses on promoting and spreading music in Getafe, offering concert cycles at the Federico García Lorca Theatre. In addition, we provide musical solemnity to various official and social events of the Getafe City Council, whose support is essential to our work.

We complement our activity with workshops, educational sessions, temporary cultural projects, collaborations with other ensembles, musical events, and concerts throughout the Madrid region, as well as at national and international levels.

Since September 2019, our Artistic Director has been José Luis Bueno Cardeñosa.

With the same enthusiasm as always, we continue working to enjoy—and help others enjoy—our music.
