Frequently Asked Questions

Joining the BMG

We are a private non‑profit association, governed by our Statutes and an Internal Regulations Framework. We have a board of directors that oversees and manages all activities. By joining the Band, you agree to become a member of the Association.

We are a Symphonic Wind Band whose main goal is to enjoy to the fullest the music we perform, always striving to give the very best of ourselves — both individually and as an ensemble.

We are an amateur Wind Band. Although we have professional musicians among our members, no member receives any payment for the concerts or events performed by the band. We are not a project‑based ensemble; we have a stable season that runs from September to July.

We rehearse at the Maestro Gombau Music School in Getafe, located at Avenida de Las Ciudades nº 37. If you come by car, we offer free parking for musicians inside the premises.

We rehearse every Friday from 19:30 to 22:30, and occasionally on some Saturdays, although these are infrequent. Attendance is very important to us. If you decide to join, you must not have overlapping rehearsals with other ensembles, classes, or any other activity that coincides with our schedule.

We perform concerts mainly in Getafe, usually at the Federico García Lorca Theatre during the winter season. In June and July, we play outdoors in different venues across the city. We only take part in three processions each year, during the local festivities, and attendance at these events is very important. The Festivities Proclamation Concert is also a key event. These activities take place in late May and early June. We also perform concerts outside Getafe, within the Madrid Region, at the national level, and occasionally abroad.

We highly value attendance and participation in all the events we organize, whether concerts, workshops, assemblies, or social activities. According to our Internal Regulations (RRI), you will be on a one‑year probation period.

All our members are currently musicians. So far, no membership fee has ever been required, although our Statutes do allow for it should it ever become necessary.

We offer financial support to students officially enrolled in professional or higher music studies for the instrument they play in the band. The amount depends on the level of studies being pursued and on their attendance at our activities.

No, we accept musicians of all ages, as long as they meet the required technical level, which will be evaluated. In addition, when joining the band, other factors will also be considered, such as the current needs of each section at the time of the application, among others.

You only need to send an email to the band introducing yourself and stating which instrument(s) you play. Then you simply wait for our reply to continue with the evaluation process. We accept percussion, woodwind, brass, double bass, and cello players.

Audience

Thanks to the collaboration agreement with the Getafe City Council, the BMG offers a wide range of concerts that are accessible to all audiences. Some events are free, while others have very low‑priced tickets, making it easier for music to reach as many people as possible.

In the “Schedule” section of this website or on our social media channels.

The best way to support the Getafe Wind Band is by attending our concerts and enjoying live music. You also help us enormously by following our social media channels, sharing our posts, and watching our videos on YouTube.
